چکیده

The developed methods are much more general and can in principle be used to construct representations of any finitely presented group. One assigns matrices with indeterminate entries to the generators of the group so that the group relations become relations between commuting variables, as was already suggested in [PlS 97] and applied in [HPS 97]. Meanwhile rather effective methods for treating algebraic equations are developed so that it is worthwhile to come back to the old topic. In particular, we use an effective implementation of Janet’s algorithm, an earlier and rather successful version of a Gröbner basis type algorithm, cf. [BCG 03], [BGY 01], [PlR 05], to deal with the equations. For the relevance of Hurwitz groups in the context of mathematics in general the reader is referred to [Mac 99], for its group theoretical relevance and history to [TaV 06].

Computing conjugacy class representatives in permutation groups

We describe a significantly improved algorithm for computing the conjugacy classes of a finite permutation group with trivial soluble radical. We rely on existing methods for groups that are almost simple, and we are concerned here only with the reduction of the general case to the almost simple case. The F a , b , c conjecture is true , II

In 1977 a five-part conjecture was made about a family of groups related to trivalent graphs and subsequently two parts of the conjecture were proved. The conjecture completely determines all finite members of the family. Here we complete the proof of the conjecture by giving proofs for the remaining three parts. Thompson-like Characterization of the Solvable Radical

We prove that the solvable radical of a finite group G coincides with the set of elements y having the following property: for any x ∈ G the subgroup of G generated by x and y is solvable. We present analogues of this result for finite dimensional Lie algebras and some classes of infinite groups. To Charles Leedham-Green on his 65th birthday

Algebra, Meaning, and Computation, Essays Dedicated to Joseph A. Goguen on the Occasion of His 65th Birthday

Introducing a new hobby for other people may inspire them to join with you. Reading, as one of mutual hobby, is considered as the very easy hobby to do. But, many people are not interested in this hobby. Why? Boring is the reason of why. However, this feel actually can deal with the book and time of you reading. Yeah, one that we will refer to break the boredom in reading is choosing algebra me...

QUANTUM gl ∞ , INFINITE q - SCHUR ALGEBRAS AND THEIR REPRESENTATIONS JIE

In this paper, we investigate the structure and representations of the quantum group U(∞) = Uυ(gl∞). We will present a realization for U(∞), following Beilinson–Lusztig–MacPherson (BLM) [1], and show that the natural algebra homomorphism ζr from U(∞) to the infinite q-Schur algebra S(∞, r) is not surjective for any r > 1. We will give a BLM type realization for the image U(∞, r) := ζr(U(∞)) and...
